Any movement is good for your health
We are all spending much more time sitting these days. We work, study and play in seats more than ever before. Many jobs are now desk jobs instead of physical labour. Watching TV, video games and DVDs occupy a big part of people’s spare time.
So exercise is not a part of daily life like it used to be. We now have to make an effort to make exercise a part our lives. But it doesn’t have to be a boring thing or cost money — exercise should be fun and it can be included into your normal day. Remember: any movement is good for your health!
Climb stairs instead of using lifts.
Ride a bike or walk to school, or get off the bus a few stops early and walk the rest of the way. You only need to plan your day a little better and you will save money and the environment.
Walking the dog is a good way of improving your fitness, and your dog will love it too.
At lunchtime, go for a walk with a friend instead of sitting down talking — you can talk while you walk. Get out into nature!
Have a game of soccer, badminton or basketball (or any other game) during your lunch break. Play school sports, even if you don’t think you are very good at sports.
Throw a ball to each other — this improves coordination and can be fun.
Go dancing with friends.
Make use of whatever is around you to fit physical activity into everyday life. You don’t need expensive gym equipment to help you exercise.
Do more exercise, and you will feel fit, energetic and positive about life. Move your body now!

Choosing the right exercise program is the easiest part. If you like the outdoors then walking may be the right choice. “A brisk Walk is nearly the perfect exercise” (“Health Prescription” 2001). Dr. Mason explains in Harvard’s Women’s magazine, stretching before any exercise is important (“Health Prescription” 2001). She says, walking can be done in many different ways and the most effective way is a long thirty-minute walk (“health Prescription). If walking is not intense enough then cardio is a good choice. “When it comes to fitness fads that have swept across America over the past 50 years, cardio is the king” (Newsome 2012). A good form of cardio is running. “ Do you love the feel of running in the great outdoors yet worry about the bad press that running sometimes gets. There are precautions you can take” (Carerra 2012). “Running allows you to be connected with your thoughts and the increased heart rate and endorphin response of recruiting your entire body into the movement is uplifting, invigorating, addictive”( Carerra 2012).…

Let’s just be very frank with that. We have automatic doors, escalators, lifts, cars, dishwashers, etc, to do almost everything for us. What have we become? We practically do nothing in the physical sense. And it leads us to become couch potatoes. When was the last time you took the stairs up the sixth floor in favour of the escalator or lift? When was the last time you walked from your house to the market just a few stops away in favour of the bus or train? Today, I want to urge you to get up and really get your body going. I want to change your mindset and get you to start walking.…
