The community I chose to help was Black Hawk Middle School. I chose this to help the middle school. I did this by helping the students learn how to get ready for high school. My partner I, Shawn, went to Black Hawk on the 29th 30th and the 31st and we talk to the students about high school. My expectation was to go to Black Hawk and talk to the kids about what I did wrong when I was in 8th grade and how it reflect on my high school year and tried to get them to look at 8th grade. I wanted to reflect and see that what they're doing in 8th grade will help them for high school. I pick helping Black Hawk Middle School because I went there as a middle school student and I wanted to help the teacher that were telling me to get ready for high school. The first day, we got to Black Hawk and we sat in a classroom with about 15 students. We talk about what is the difference between middle school and high school. The setbacks I think we face was running out of things to say. Sometimes, we're just sitting there and waiting for a question because we have nothing to say and if that question never came, we had to hurry up and think of a topic to talk about. We overcame this by writing some questions downs or some topic or asking the student what they wanna know about high school. I felt like we were successful at our community work. We did everything as we planned the students were asking questions and nothing really went wrong. The positive I took out of this project is that it actually worked. I had doubts that the students were not going to listen or they wouldn't want to ask questions, but they were listening and asking questions and looked entertained in what we had to
