Credibility Gun Violence is known as a complicated, controversial issue of firearms in America.…
With all the mass shootings recently, I feel that the public has—in a way—become numb to the next big incident. Until it comes to children, does it come back into the news. Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) said in 2012, “I agree, now is not the time to talk about gun laws. The time for that conversation was long before all those kids in Connecticut died today” (13). Though we have not talked much about gun control and its repercussions, Beck’s book creates a bigger picture of what we have discussed so far and how far…

It was Tuesday, April 20, 1999. It was an exciting day for me in the fourth grade when I turned 9 years old. However, the people of Littleton, Colorado remember that day as something more and definitely less exciting than my birthday was. On April 20, 1999 Littleton Colorado experienced what we now know as the Columbine Massacre. Two seniors at Columbine High School, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold completed this act killing 12 students, 1 teacher, and injured 21 others before committing suicide. Why would anyone want to commit such a horrific crime? Today I am going to talk to you about the boys and their preparations, the massacre itself, and the aftermath.…
A controversial argument opposite to both viewpoints of gun control mentioned, is the negatives of guns and the need for gun control. In the article, “The Impact of Violence on Children,” Joy Osofsky elaborates that gun violence in communities are extremely detrimental in communities especially on children. Osofsky, a professor of public health in Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, uses masses of children psychology, scenarios and experiences to demonstrate the importance of gun control and to increase gun regulations. She focuses on children’s response to guns and violence, showing that the exposure of gun violence to children at their early ages not only increases their interest to use guns, but also the likelihood to use…

We the kids around the world are not thrilled with the way our society behaves. We hate to turn on the news and see the way our youth act towards each other like who really wants to live in a world where this goes on every single day. The biggest problem that we have in society is school shootings. We bully each other until it gets to the point where we can't take the bullying no more and start handling the situation ourselves and we will never know when it's going to happen until it happens. And people wonder why does this happen to our youth well it's because no one like to stick up for the person that's getting bullied they just let it happen like what I heard today at lunch where a student was getting bullied by everyone in his second period…
We’ve all seen it in the newspapers- kids accidently killing their family, their friends, or even themselves. A pure, innocent life should not be taken because of the parent’s careless mistake of keeping a gun at easy access for children. In the recent years, this has been becoming a problem, especially for family with youthful kids. Young children should not be taught how to handle guns because they don’t have the understanding that a gun can potentially kill or seriously injure someone, they’re constantly being exposed to violent movies/videogames, and most kids do not know the difference between real and fake guns.…
Gun violence is one main thing that tears families apart. Crazy, non-educated people roam the streets with dangerous weapons killing people and causing tragedies. Society would have done better if only police had the access to weapons and guns instead of civilians and criminals, although they could be confiscated. Gun violence incidents have been happening for a very long time, most of the time without a reason. Shootings, robberies, etc. all include the use of a weapon like a gun. These things happen every day. For example, if someone is trying/planning on killing someone, they won’t be able to do that without a weapon. Guns are meant for self-defense, people like gangsters don’t use them the way they’re supposed to be used, but why? Using them not the right way will get them in trouble and do nothing but get them thrown in jail, just use guns in the proper form, for self-defense, not homicidal kills. It is important to always stay cautious of your…
The key element to note when focusing on gun policy, per both law and public opinion, children and youth are a special case. This puts the youth and kids at great harm, and are left wife open to the gun violence. We should be able to create awareness in the society about the huge negative impacts of gun violence in the streets and at the homes in America. The government and local people of the community must come together to understand that it takes lot of effort and research to make a significant positive for the safety and well- being of the youth and the…
Actually, those pictures from a video which is talking about gun violence is preventable. There are two stories in the video, One is obvious and one is hidden. When people watch this video, they usually focus on the main story and ignore the hidden story. Then the gun violence happened, because they all ignore the signs of a student who was planning a shooting. For example, Watching gun video, reading gun magazine, being bullied, imitating violent behavior by showing a gun gesture. Those behavior all show that the student was planning a shooting. Therefore, gun violence is preventable, when you know the signs.…
I believe that the United States gun control laws are way too lax. Guns are available to almost any citizen above the age of 18, with minor or no background checks. “The United States is one of the greatest nations in the world. But compared to our peers, we’re one of the worst when it comes to gun violence.…
Many families do not keep their guns in safe places that children couldn’t reach. For example, in South Carolina a 2-year-old shot his grandmother in the back while she was riding in the back seat of the car the child found the gun in the back of the front seat and shot his grandmother. Since children don’t know the concept of killing and harming people they have injured and killed many people, even children have killed their own parents and siblings. For example, a child shot his father in an event where many people were present. These kinds of incidents have happened many times because the parents didn't pay attention to the consequences of keeping guns. Not keeping guns in a safe place where children can't reach can result in familie’s own…
Do people want their children to grow up in an unsafe world? The world that their children will grow up in will not be safe at all. This is because assault weapons can be placed in the hand of mentally unstable people. Their children could be in school one day and a school shooting may happen and their child could possibly die. People could be walking around in a store and somebody with an assault weapon could come in and kill a ton of those people. That can all be changed by putting a ban on assault weapons. Assault weapons should be banned in the United States.…
