Just a small town girl
Was there ever a time in your life where you wanted to be something that you’re not? I’m the girl that felt that way. Everything I hope for happened when I moved from the country to town. Growing up I was raised out in the country, dreaming of exploring my horizon and becoming a small town girl. The location, security, noises, and neighbors make both of these neighborhoods uniquely different.
My first neighborhood, where I grew up, was out in the country in a little town called Rinards Mill. The rural life is how you would expect it to be. The houses are widely spread apart and you are lucky to have a neighbor close by. There is more freedom due to the lack of security, and there is a less chance for there to be any law enforcements or crimes. The neighbors tend to have a stronger bond and are able to count on each other. Overall, the setting of the rural life is very peaceful and quiet and it’s a very good place to raise a family. Next, I moved to a small town called New Matamoras. There are many differences compared to the rural life. To start off, the houses are placed closely together and that causes a lot of frustration between the neighbors. In town, the rules are enforced and have to be followed. It is more than likely there will be law enforcement roaming the town during the day and night to ensure the safety of the people. The neighbors tend not have a close bond between each other and have issues relying on each other. However, even though the setting of the town is very noisy, I still found a way to call it my new home. This was a huge change in my life and it was hard for me to adapt to the new changes in my environment.
After dreaming of transitioning from a country girl to a small town girl, my dream finally came true and showed me how uniquely different they both are. The differences in house locations, security, neighbors, and noises give a good comparison between living out in the country and living in a small town. Both of the neighborhoods

    Texas Turning Point

Most students grow up with the same friends and same house all the way until high school graduation. Growing up in a family that moves quite a bit, these friendships and houses often change. I have moved numerous times and have attended a number of schools throughout my life, but my recent move has affected me the most. Originally living in Texas from the time I was six months old, I moved to Peoria, Arizona, when I was nine years old. However, just before my sophomore year in high school, my family and I moved back to Texas from Arizona. This move was a major turning point in my life because I had to adapt to a new area and school where I had to make all new friends.…

My fairly short life so far has been full of diverse, sui-generis experiences. I have spent literally half my life in Electra, Texas, a small town with less than 3,000 people known for oil fields and farming while I have spent the other half in Owasso, Oklahoma, a fairly large suburb in the Tulsa metro area known for being full of character. Living in these two areas has given me the completely different aspects of life on living in a small town and a city. Electra has given me the unique experiences of a small, farm-driven town: simple life, a sense of community, and absolutely no traffic at all. Owasso has given me a completely different sense of culture, completely new social experiences, and occasionally a lot of traffic. Not only have…

The memory of my first big move is still fresh in my mind. I remember rushing to school, excited to tell my friends the news: I was moving from New Jersey to Phoenix, Arizona! After I brought my friends up to date, I proudly displayed my new disposable camera. Together we took many pictures, some of them meaningful and some comical. There were pictures of myself smiling and giggling with my friends and some of my teacher’s feet. As the moving date was slowly approaching, I began to feel resentment. I started hating the idea of moving to a new unknown place where I would have no friends. As it turned out, making new friends was not as hard as I thought because I was younger and I chose my friends superficially. However, I did have to learn to adapt to a new school and curriculum. I was not…

One significant experiance in my life has been my dad being in the Millitary. My dad was in the Millitary for a short time of one year before he decided it wasnt for him. I started school and things werent that bad, I made friends and had a park right across the street from my house! life was good. But then we had to move again, to Arizona. We moved from sea side California to the Arizona Dessart. This is where I was really challanged, I didnt make friends as easy as the first move. At last, we discovered a wonderful house we all loved which was located in McKinney, Texas. We were excited to move from the tiny apartment to our actual new house where I had my own room again. It was a little smaller than our previous house in Indiana, but it was plenty of room for our family of four. This house also had an absolutely astounding pool in the backyard. I quickly discovered that Texas had everything you could possibly ever need or want. I liked that I was able to walk to school due to the close proximity to our house. I could even walk to the library and several parks. Everyone lived close to each other and it was easy to make friends. There was almost any restaurant imaginable in the area and I loved the new variety choices. We enjoyed exploring our new location, as we were like tourists in our own…

If I knew that living here is not that big of a dramatic change, I could have kept my calm and adapt with ease. I kept comparing, longing for, what I assumed, the comfortable life I always had, and not making the best with what I currently had. Since proximity is the main contributor to the effects on my lifestyle, I had to take a more circuitous route for my necessities, like with the grocery shopping.…

Moving homes and relocating to another city sometimes feels like starting a new life. New home, new friends, and new streets to learn. I moved towns at the age of five and got to see things from a different perspective as I grew older. It was not until the age of 12 that I transferred schools and made new friends. At the time, I was frightened of the idea of moving, but after some time I was truly grateful it had happened to me. My parents, as well as a friend of mine, took a big part of this change and helped me step out of my comfort zone. Through this experience, I learned to accept myself and everything around, as well as to be more open to trying new things.…

It is a well-known fact that the world is becoming increasingly urbanized. In almost every country in the world the trend has been for more and more people to move from small towns to larger cities. Although there are certain aspects of living in small town that I would appreciate such as clean air and less noise, however the urbanizing trend pretty much reflects my own preference for living in a big city rather than in a small town, because in my opinion the place one lives in plays more important role in one’s life in terms of wider range of opportunities. I think the education and career opportunities are the most prominent among them.…
