I think the most important thing for anyone, is to constantly expose yourself to the language you are trying to learn. This of course goes for me as well, and luckily it is not a hard thing to do in today’s society with the massive influx of American and British television/movies, music and games. This is mainly the things that helped me learn the English language as I grew up, along with of course, the Internet. Aside from the constant exposure I get from the things I listed above, I think the things that will prove most important to me when it comes to learning the English language in the near future will be pure “live” interaction with it. Talking, discussing and expressing myself to others in English.
I know from experience that I learn much more if it’s truly enforced from times when I have spent longer periods of time in foreign countries, where I really had no other option than speaking English. Rather than in a class room in Sweden where it has on more than one occasion felt pretty convenient to just switch over to Swedish whenever I happened to come upon a hard sentence or word. So like I said, as far as my speech and understanding of the language goes, I am confident that I would see a lot of results just by truly forcing myself to use the language on a regular basis.
Personally, I am not a very big reader and never was, so my writing skills are quite lacking at times and I have difficulties formulating sentences or getting my thoughts down on the paper. And even though I don’t really see myself getting into reading that heavily in the near future, it would definitely be a great way for me to improve in that department, as well as general reading comprehension, obviously. I do, however, use the Internet quite frequently which I think has played a major role in me learning and shaping my use of the English language and will most likely continue to do so for as long as I decide to use it. It is one of those tools
