I was assigned to train a group of children to overcome an obstacle course. I became their leader because I was faster, smarter, more mature, and wiser than those in my age group. As a part of their summer program, the kids had to undergo an obstacle course at the end of the program. For a few weeks, the kids trained with me for the obstacle course. The obstacle course was meant as a fun way for kids to improve their speed and reflexes. I was informed that I had to come up fun and enjoyable exercises and activities for the kids as a means to train them for the obstacle course. The exercises and activities could either be something they were already aware of or something they know nothing about. In order to increase their speed, I chose the game of tag. They ran around playing tag for approximately half an hour with little rest. In order to increase their reflexes, I chose the game of dodgeball. Every single game of tag and dodgeball was a friendly competition. Prizes were offered to a select number of winners. I never imagined that this program would influence my goals. The things that I have experienced during the course of this program have influenced my goals. One of my minor goals is to become a more confident leader. Being a leader of this group of kids has enhanced my realization of the importance of leadership. Seeing how these children respond to my leadership as well as that of the other volunteers and employees has further opened my eyes to seeing how different types of leadership have the ability to influence its followers. I tried to be the best leader that I could be and in response, these kids tried to be the best followers. On the occasion, I would notice how these kids responded to the leadership of the other volunteers and employees. If the leader was acting in a nonchalant manner, the kids would also be acting in a nonchalant manner. It would seem that the attitude and behavior of the leader posed an influence on that of the
