Trying to be a great leader is a goal that I strive for everyday, as I want to be someone that others look up to. During my classes and extracurriculars, I make a point to try and be the best version of myself: paying attention in classes, following the rules, and having a good attitude. Oftentimes, the friends I have in my classes are either being talkative or are trying to sleep during a lesson or a time in which we are meant to be productive, so even though I am tempted to join them in the conversation or catch a few more minutes of sleep, I know that I need to do my work and influence them to do theirs as well. When I am studying for a test or quiz, I ask a classmate if they are studying at that point in time, and encourage them to start if they have not been studying so we can both do well; my priority is the succession of my peers, regardless of whether I believe they will do better than me or not. Although helping people out has never been a problem, I used to have troubles with accepting criticism. I never wanted anyone to judge my work, but as I went through middle school and now high school and have had to revise my essays and reconstruct a more efficient machine, I realized that without criticism, I can not get better as a person and student. Now I am able to accept criticism well and work on areas of which I need to get better at, because being able to take criticism willingly is a skill everybody needs to continue to improve throughout their life. Because I have developed these characteristics, I am able to lead more effectively the best way I can, and I am glad that I have evolved into someone who can
