My Leadership Philosophy
Leadership and service are two great attributes in a person's life. Service has always been a huge part of mine. Since I was capable, I was out serving the community and those in need with my family. If anyone needed a helping hand, I would be there to lend it. Service has been deeply integrated into my life. I truly enjoy helping others. This allows me to not only get to know my community, but to also make an impact on those that may be less fortunate. Through my service, whether it be helping devastated families in the recent floods of Louisiana or donating to and volunteering in a shelter, I have been able to provide others in my community and school with items and support that they need. I have also shown my peers that serving others is something that can be done frequently and in many different ways. …show more content…
There is a famous saying stating that leaders are born, not made, and my mom swears that I was born a leader. Through my leadership skills, I have planned several charity activities in my community and school, including: a local Bike-A-Thon for Small Steps in Speech Organization and school blue jean days and Valentine's Day sweet sales for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. I have also led my schoolmates in many clubs and organizations. I have been a tutor for many years, and I am delighted to see the struggling student's grades improve as we work together. I was the president of our first drama club and organized it's first production. I was also Co-Captain of the dance team and helped lead the squad to becoming the first ever school sports team to be three-time state champions. I also received a "Pin-It Forward" award at LSU dance camp for showing leadership skills towards other participants. I hope to not only empower the people and circumstances around me, but to also inspire others to do the same. This could leave a legacy of leadership and service, which is my ultimate

A self-employed business man once said, “The best example of leadership is leading by example” (Jerry McClain). He describes a true leader, a pioneer whose morals and selflessness guide her to guide others. She is an inspiration, and a beacon of hope for all to follow. I share this passion for helping and guiding by example, and as a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I would seek to better the community just as I do every day inside and outside of the classroom.…

One example when I have shown service and my leadership ability is when I helped coach youth soccer the past 3 years here in the Lindsborg, Kansas community. Service is one of the things I love to do because I love helping people and volunteering. I volunteer every Sunday for four hours at the Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Parish where I help kids to learn more about God and at the same time gain spiritual guidance. I help plan and coordinate activities and events for the kids to make their learning as fun as possible as well as making them more enthusiastic to go to Sunday school. I enjoy volunteering because it helps me become more diverse than what I already am and to meet new people.…

Leadership is one of the qualities where i have the least experience of. I have had many opportunities with being a leader of a group or a work environment but only for a short period of time. For example, in school when given a group work assignment, i’m usually the first one to suggest satisfying ideas to the group and i also assign certain obligations to each member to get the task done…

I volunteer in my community whenever I get the opportunity. For example, I helped students get to school safely and I helped out around the school. I volunteered at the public library to help younger children. I now see it is hard work to get children focused and help them not make a big mess, but I enjoyed helping them in any way I can. Volunteering at the public library also taught me about patience. Not everything went exactly how I planned it out, but at the end it still worked out. My time at the library also taught me about effort.…

Serving the community is a very important thing to me, not just within the school community, but also into the Kenyan community. Beginning from my childhood, anytime I would go upcountry, I would always carry a bag of sweets to give to the impoverished children I would find, or carry my keyboard along with me to play the children songs in Church. I believe that I have nurtured these simple acts of service into my spending of several weeks this past few summers volunteering at the Nest, which is an orphanage for young children. Growing up, my parents have taught me the value of giving, that because I am privileged, I should always give back to society. My times at the Nest continue to teach me how reaching out to others although it might be hard to relate, is so rewarding.…

When I was younger, I participated in Girl Scouts where we volunteered in food pantries, senior centers, hospitals, animal shelters and charities for the less fortunate. We also participated in service projects such as making cards for veterans, making blankets for hospitals and the homeless, and made care packages for veterans and the hurricane victims. Volunteering is important to me because I had an aunt that unfortunately died of cancer and I feel that no one should have to go through the pain and suffering that she did.…

Throughout my high school career, I have been given numerous opportunities to lead other students by example, work ethic, volunteerism, and school involvement. I believe that my greatest impact as a leader in high school has been through my participation in a Service Learning Class. This class gave me the chance to help and lead others by tutoring younger students in the middle school and elementary school. As a senior, I felt responsible for providing a voice for the class in ideas and decisions to help better our school. I worked with administrators, teachers, and class members to promote healthy habits of responsibility, school pride, respect, and service.…

I showed courage when two girls came to me to help them practice for last year’s dance tryouts. As a confident leader I helped them go through routines and certain skills they were struggling with, and most importantly helped them grow their confidence. We all cooperated well together and it ended up paying off as we were accepted into the dance team. Outside dance, I demonstrate leadership skills in several areas. I was selected as a Building Connections leader, I have been a leader, this year I have been selected to be a BC leader of my school.…

Although it may sound naïve, my leadership as a student on campus, and as a woman in general, demonstrates my motivation to pay it forward. I recognize the opportunities I have as a student leader, and those that I hope to have in the future as a professional. Those include leading and mentoring those yet to come. I hope to cultivate a culture of gratitude, and given my background, I hope it is evident that I am anything but naïve. I understand the challenge it may be, better yet, that is what sparks the fire in me that cannot accept anything short of success.…

I take pride in organizing, instructing, and guiding individuals toward a collective goal. Being a leader is a nature of my personality; however, capitalizing on being a leader has allowed me to grow as a human being and accomplish things I would have not otherwise been able to do. My leadership positions have included a range of differences. At Knoch High School, I was the Class of 2014 Class President and Spanish Club Vice President; in addition, I was an active member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Future Business Leaders of America.…

Throughout my high school years, I maintained various leadership roles. The first of which was serving as a section leader in the marching band for three years. As a section leader, I was the example of how the section should act, present, and conduct them. I was also the captain of the golf and tennis teams, first leading by examples through my actions and then through my playing skills. At my home church, I am the Youth Director providing an example of how to live as a young Christian despite the temptation of peer pressure. While here at JMU, I am currently serving as a mentor at the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County Boys and Girls Club to disadvantaged to youth. Just furthering my education beyond high school is the primary and first example of leadership. The kids at the club can look to me and see that I was once just like them but I’ve pushed through and maybe they can…
