Personal Narrative: My Internship At Carousel
My internship at Carousel taught me a lot about event planning and was very interesting to see behind the scenes of various events. Before this internship, I had a keen interest in event planning, however had never worked at a company that specialized in it. Working at Carousel taught me a lot about the working world, the planning of each event, and the intricate details that are focused on. I was very glad to have had this wonderful experience because not only did I get to see how everything is done, but I was also given the opportunity to help and plan events.

During this week, I was given various tasks that helped me learn more about event planning. On the first day that I came, I was given an email thread between a client and a manager,

Beforehand, I was given the layout of the event and the components that should be included in the presentation. First, I had to find inspiration for the event that matched the theme and colors. Secondly, I had to look through furniture catalogues, and find furniture to match the inspiration board I had previously created. I was surprised to see that even the slightest details such as cutlery mattered to enhance the event. In event planning, I felt like the furniture was the most important part and had to be chosen carefully to match the theme, which was the difficult part. In addition, I had to chose the florals, the cake, flavor options and dance floor installations. Picking the flowers was challenging as I did not know many names of the flowers. Personally, I think that this was the most fascinating task as I learned a lot and got to plan a wedding.

In conclusion, my internship at Carousel was a learning experience, and helped me direct my future. Now, I am more interested in this field and would love to work in an event planning company in the future and pursue it as a career. Before, I always thought that as an event planner, you had to be super creative, and I did not think that I was creative. However, I learned that there are always thing that you can take your inspiration from to create and plan an

I can remember when I did my undergrad internship at a rehabilitation center; the Physical Therapist explained to me that if a person has ruptured their Achilles tendon, calf raises were one the best exercises. This exercise was potentially one of the best due to it strengthening the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. He also explained that many runners should focus on strengthening exercises, simply because of the wear and tear running they are more susceptible to this type of injury.…

Communication is one of the most important aspects of working in a team based setting. Daily tasks will not be able to be completed to a high standard if people do not fully understand what is expected of them, just as a manager cannot expect her staff to perform to their full potential if communication is flawed. It is not just verbal communication that takes a vital role non-verbal communication is just as important especially when working with children, young people and their families. Tone of voice, facial expressions and body language are all things that could aid or hinder something you are trying to tell a child, parent or even an adult in your team. To make sure I make progress within my role I will need to be confident and able to express my own needs and wants as well as being able to listen to others and speak up if I do not fully understand what is being asked of me.…

My time interning with the National Museum of Civil War Medicine was overall an amazing experience.
