Personal Narrative: NFL Network Internship
I have always been known as the kid with unending football knowledge. That, along with the fact that I had been hosting my own radio show for two years at the time, left me with great confidence going into my NFL Network internship. My first day on the job I was thrown into the fire. I was researching statistics and other stories to craft my own pieces to present to the rest of the office. At the end of the day, I had written four segments, all of which I was very proud of. I never imagined that all four would be rejected.
It was extremely hard for me that night trying to figure out what I did wrong. Was it too bland? Too informational? How could they have not liked it? Up until that point, I had never had to face rejection in my work. Because

I can remember when I did my undergrad internship at a rehabilitation center; the Physical Therapist explained to me that if a person has ruptured their Achilles tendon, calf raises were one the best exercises. This exercise was potentially one of the best due to it strengthening the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. He also explained that many runners should focus on strengthening exercises, simply because of the wear and tear running they are more susceptible to this type of injury.…

Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…

It was a crisp cold fall day at Lambeau field. I could see everything that was happening the whole entire time. The field was as green as a tree in the middle of Summer. The cold wind was whistling in my ear. The smell the hot dogs, burgers, and turf from the field filled my nose as the game begin. All I could hear were people cheering on the Packers and the jumbotron blaring, “Go pack go!” I could see the running back Eddie Lacy drive the ball into the end zone and everyone went wild. A mix people cheering and screaming filled my ears. After the opposing team returned the ball everyone started cheering, “Defense, defense, defense!” The watched the ball get intercepted and run down the field for another touchdown! The crowd roared and I got…

When I stood at the bottom I did not think I could make it. half way up, I knew that I could not make it. Now, standing at the top, I look behind me at the amazing challenge that I have just conquered. Not only is the hill at Eau Claire an infamous feat that every student must traverse, but it is also a metaphor for every hardship that has entered into my life. One hardship I have faced, was my sports injuries during high school. My junior year track season started off being the best experience i’ve had. Unfortunately, this time was cut short. I ripped a ligament in my leg ending my entire spring season. I was angry at the world asking, “why me”. However, I knew I still had a team depending on me. Day in, and day out, I would show up to practice…

Rejection is a very difficult thing for most people to handle. Combine this with taking part in an act to knowingly get rejected, the perfect concoction of awkwardness, anxiety, and discomfort can be brewed. The rejection challenge was something that I never expected myself to want to do. I could only imagine what the other person would say and how awkward it would be when I took part in these challenges. Taking part in one challenge changed my confidence in an immense way; it showed me that people are not as dangerous as they may seem to be, it inspired me to move past the awkward feelings and take part in more rejection challenges: anything from asking for a dollar to asking a police officer for a ride.…

It was a Friday night in mid August 1991. I was a noseguard and middle linebacker on defense, depending on the play. I also played right guard on the offensive line. This is the story of a night that could of well ended any hope of being an athlete, on any level, from this point on. I will be telling the story from the defensive side of the ball, due to that is where I was playing when I had five vertebrae, slightly, separated.…

Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…
