olympics. If that many spectators go to Rio, the chances of coming home to a country who hasn't been contaminated with the virus is very high, putting the whole country in danger. It would be a whole different story if this virus was not contagious, but it isn't. This virus can be transferred through sexual intercourse with a person not knowing they had it.The Rio government claims that they spray down their mosquitos daily, but just like humans, they are able to reproduce.
Another thing to consider are the risks athletes are putting their own bodies through.
Representing their country is now sacrificing their body for life. Women and men are risking the life of their babies for a sport. Women may want children in their future, but going to Rio is prematurely killing their children. Men are co-producers of a child but playing to Rio risks their children's lives just as much as a women because they sexually transfer the virus to not just women, but the child as well.
North Korea has announced that they have made “zika-proof” uniforms for their athletes to wear during the olympics. This is the summer olympics; these uniforms can not cover their whole body for the chances of the athletes becoming overheated. They call spraying an insect repellent of the clothes protecting themselves enough? The spray will only ward off the insects for a period of time; Rio cannot stop games every few minutes to spray the repellent on the body.
The amount of money used to for the virus will not kill the virus, but let the mosquitos back away, relax, and attack all over
again. Missing one year of the summer olympics is nothing compared to contracting a virus. Rio is endangering the lives of everyone around the world by hosting the olympic games. The chance of them accepting the blame for this virus spreading around the word is unlikely. If nothing can be done to kill the virus off, it is not worth the risk of killing oneself.
