There are alternatives to animal testing. The best alternative are human volunteers. Human volunteers, both healthy and diseased, give tissue to laboratories to be tested on. Other common alternatives include computerized models and simulations, non-invasive imaging techniques, and microdosing. A benefit of these tests are no animals are being harmed, including humans. Another benefit is how fast they can test. If I test on animals, I have to start with smaller animals, and build my way up to the animals that closely resemble humans like bonobos and chimpanzees. Since I do not have to test multiple times, it is extremely cost effective. …show more content…
Animals feel pain just like everyone else. The definition of pain is “physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury.” Humans and animals actually react to pain in the same way to each other. For example, when I accidentally step on a dogs or cats tail, they will shriek a little bit. When animals are used to test out a new product, they are usually injected with chemicals that will more than likely not work or be toxic. When animals are tested, and it ends up that the product is hurting them, their natural instincts kick in and they try to hide the pain. If they show their pain, they will be seen as a weak target.
