RE: Prefect Application
I would like to become a prefect as I see this is a great opportunity to contribute back to the school. I believe I have the qualities required for a prefect as I am responsible, reliable and am prepared to carry out various duties to the best of my ability. In addition, I am confident that I could set a good example for other pupils around school.
I have previously helped out on parents evenings gaining more confidence talking about and sharing knowledge and experiences to parents and careers. Moreover, I regularly attend extra-curriculum activities such as hockey, English and business studies. This shows I am committed to my learning and that I wouldn’t mind staying longer than expected to make sure I have produced to the best of my ability. My attitude and punctuality is always to the highest standards. Outside of school, I am also committed to advancing my extra-curricular skills even further. I have been swimming since the age of three and I am now currently working towards my silver medallion for the Royal Life Saving Society.
All of the above activities have allowed me to gain experience in interacting with a wide variation of people, working as a team and develop a sense of responsibility and commitment. I believe I am prepared to take on the extra responsibility of being a prefect.
I take great pride in my appearance, I would say my uniform is always to the correct standards and I always have the equipment required for the day. I think being a prefect would help improve my skills and qualities as well as others’.
Thank you for spending the time to read my application.
Yours sincerely,

I have a range of sport based interests that I pursue both outside and inside of school. On the weekends I swim/dive, I play netball and basketball ( I also attend basketball club in school) as recreation. Every Sunday I volunteer for a 2- 4 hour shift at Tenovus which is a cancer charity, I have been at this placement for roughly three months and intend to stay for an extensive amount of time. My work experience - I completed a week at Fitrah (a private primary school) and a week at Jungle Jeans. Both these placements including my volunteer work have equipped me with many skills such as meeting peoples needs efficiently and become confident in voicing my opinion/ideas when in group situations, this skill was also learned through my attendance at debate club.…

The most significant extracurricular activity that I participate in would most likely be track and field during the indoor and outdoor seasons. I maintain a paid job and also help out at the local library, yet my experience as an athlete for Exeter High School has instilled within me invaluable time management skills, work ethic, and determination. Lettering all previous years I have competed, and being elected the team’s most valuable player last year, I work extremely hard on and off the track to achieve my goals. Balancing training with school can be difficult at times, but in a way I seem to work better having more on my plate. Receiving the scholar athlete award every consecutive season since sophomore year goes to show my greatly improved…

I’m a fairly laid back kinda guy but being responsible for the safety of children is something I can’t help but take very seriously. Lifeguarding has given me very direct skills to solve problems, like how to save someone who’s drowning, first aid or CPR. Before I was a lifeguard I worked at the front desk of the same pool where I had the experience of being a cashier. Working at the pool helped me gain experience in how to function and behave in a professional…

Throughout high school, my life has been consumed by sports. Being a student athlete has made me become the person I am today. Ever since I was sixteen, I have also worked at a daycare in town, TASK. This has showed me how much little kids look up to student athletes. Working at TASK has also showed me how much these little kids want to grow up and be like us student athletes. Without sports and working at the daycare, I would not be the role model I am today. Since working at the daycare, I have realized I want to be the person little girls are talking about when they say, “I want to grow up and be just like her.” Being chosen team captain has made me into the leader I am. I have learned how to push my teammates…

I stopped gymnastics when I became ill, but before the age of 16, I had won and competed in many gymnast ompetitions amd I had also preformed dozens of artist gymnastic plays alongside my team. My previous achievements include being the team captain for our artistic gymnastics team, where we preformed at the Edinburgh festival in 2008. Balancing my school life with the training required in gymnastics has been very demanding at times. I have gained experience of how to cope in a stressful and challenging enviroment and I know how to deal with pressure but also how to enjoy the success which comes from all of the hard work and dedication. In addition to this, I have learned about commitment as well as how to handle a loss, and also how to be a humble victor. Before joining my first swim club team in 2013 my physical activity was low to say the least, but competitive swimming turned that around completely. My training began with eight hours a week, but by the end of the year it would increase to twenty or more, depending on whether or not we were tapering or had a meet that week. The intense training regimen I was placed on was a great outlet for stress and a new avenue for personal growth. Swimming taught me commitment and how to set, prepare for, and achieve my goals in and out of the water. Being part of a competitive team as well as training as an athlete improved every aspect of my life; social, physical, intellectual, and emotional. At each team I have trained with, there have always been coaches that help me grow as a person and a swimmer. Each of my coaches created an environment that caused my love for swimming to grow, something which I did not think was possible. They have always been there when I needed help with my stroke, or when I was upset over a bad swim. From setting goals for the season to working on my stroke my coaches are always there to push me in and out of the…

For the past fifteen years of my life I have been a swimmer. I wake up at six in the morning to jump in a cold pool to stare at a black line for miles, just to shed a hundredth of a second off my time. I have lived with the stench of chlorine and fried hair because I want to become better. There is neither money nor fame in swimming, just the strongest internal motivation that pushes me to be the best I can be. Swimming has made look for the path of most resistance, to enjoy hard work and not run away from it. I have been able to push my body to its physiological, psychological, and emotional limits and have learned so much through these trials. It has taught me leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination. Through years of hard work…

Because my good grades allowed, I became a tutor in hopes of improving my teaching skills. Another thing I struggle with is public speaking; it is not something that I am comfortable doing. My undergraduate courses have helped me to become more comfortable with public speaking. The more I do it, the more comfortable I will become. I am a very driven person and I strive to better myself everyday. If I am faced with a task that I am not fully comfortable with I will network with others who posses the correct knowledge and research the topic myself to become more comfortable. I abide by the evidence based practice philosophy set forth by the academy. My strong will and perseverance has led me to success in academics and athletics. Swimming at the Division 1 level was a source of extra physical and mental stress on an already stressful road to pursuing an undergraduate degree. The countless early mornings, months of training, and missed classes for competitions all taught me how to manage my time wisely. I am extremely proud that I had the strength and determination to finish my four years of NCAA eligibility as a swimmer, a feat that few have accomplished. I am a highly analytical person, as I like to analyze many different angles to an issue before I make a decision. I am thorough in my decision making process so I do not miss important information. Being an athlete and having a strong…
