The quote “ Now the concern isn’t how to rouse teens but how to lull them” is effective because it is proving that teens need time to sit back and relax. Another important statement Frank used is “In a study in the medical journal Pediatrics this year, about 55 percent of American teenagers from the ages of 14 to 17 reported that they were getting less than seven hours a night, though the National Sleep Foundation counsels 8 to 10.” Frank also states that the anxiety and depression level for college kids is through the roof, and the main cause is lack of sleep.
Sleep deprivation is a major concern for teens in the U.S. If kids are obtaining only five hours of sleep a night, then something needs to change because a lack of sleep can endanger kid’s mental and physical health. I don’t believe the problem has to do with technology, the real problem is kids are being told they have to ace every test, and this is keeping them up late studying.
