In class essay
Work vs. homework is a common decision teenagers have to make. Juggling a job schedule around school is a bit much for a teen to handle. I agree with Debra Viadero, a part- time job only hurts student’s grades. Too much work is a bad idea. A part-time job endangers students in many different ways. Working too much leads to a lack of sleep. Part time jobs can create a detachment from school. Also, working too much heightens teenager’s chance of injuries. People think working at an early age brings experiences and builds character, but really part-time jobs bring health and safety risk for teenagers or distracts them from their school lives.
Working a part-time job often leads to teenagers missing out on hours of sleep. Sleep is very vital when it comes to having the energy to complete a day. Usually when a students are missing out on his or her sleep their less attentive in class. This is really important when a student needs to learn in class. Often when teenagers are not getting enough sleep they find themselves snoozing off in class and fighting to stay awake. Monday through Friday I attend work 2 a.m. to 830 a.m. and school at 10:00. As an employee and a student I know how important it is to get your rest the day before. I learned that sleep is very vital and when I don’t get enough of it I find myself fighting to stay awake. Although not everyone’s hours are this extreme, the effect is the same on the human body. Which means, no matter what if you don’t get the right amount of sleep you’ll find yourself sleep in a place where it isn’t the norm. Not getting enough sleep makes it hard for working students to stay engaged in class. Part-time jobs affect all students whether it’s their GPA or just trying to stay attentive in class. Working too many hours leads student’s feelings to detach from school. Feeling detached from school means to begin loosing focus and interest on your classes.
