I have established this through my volunteer work with year 7’s in my school, as well as Key Stage 1 and 2 students in a neighbouring primary school. This has taught me to develop my communication skills to a higher level. It also made me more self-driven to be looked upon as a role model by children of all ages. I believe this is a very crucial step towards me becoming a successful child nurse.
My other positions of responsibility included being a prefect. This demonstrated that I was accountable for a variety of things such as: ensuring students followed the school conduct. In addition, it made me a more active member of the school community. Having been given this position in school, I am more encouraged to become a responsible employee within this field.
My work experience in a Day Care Centre was very enjoyable and challenging. By being involved in teamwork with a group of friendly staff, I gained moral support and confidence. Helping young people with different disabilities as well as elderly people become more active and involved, gave me a sense of achievement – especially when working in a team.
