2) I possess many skills that will be useful if I am to have an internship with a surgeon. I am very organized and good at taking notes and organizing others belongings. Additionally, I am tech-savvy and could help out with many computer issues or tasks. I am not very shy and have good people skills that may help if I am ever talking to patients. Although I don’t currently have any background in the surgical field, I have excelled in GT biology and am currently doing very well in GT chemistry, which are both important subjects for surgery. I am also planning on taking a course over the summer called “Med School 101” at Vanderbilt’s VSA program, which will hopefully give me some insight on the topic so I can be helpful as an intern.
3) Currently, I am not exactly sure what question I would like to research. I don’t think I know exactly what I would like to research until I see what type of internship I receive and what type of surgery I will be observing. However, because I want to make sure there is enough research on the topic, and that it is something someone my age and with my resources can actually achieve, I think my question will probably focus on the surgeon-patient relationship. For example, a question I find interesting is “What amount of bed rest leads to the fastest recovery for a simple surgery”
