career goals
It was in my first semester of IT engineering that I learned that computers and software were not just about technology and coding, but an equally important component is managing and defining processes along with associated resources. As the course progressed, wondrous subjects like,
Software Engineering, Information Technology for Management of Enterprise and Software
Project Management enhanced my interest in IT. Working on numerous projects in my final year as a part of the academic curriculum gave me an in-depth understanding in the field of web development, databases, software engineering, and project management. I became accustomed to languages like Hypertext Markup Language, Visual Basic Scripts, applications like Microsoft
Access, and gained useful insights about the importance of creating user friendly GUIs. In addition to these experiences, extensive lectures expanded my knowledge of topics like Enterprise Resource
Planning and Supply Chain Management, which coupled IT and management. . One of the important projects was implemented in a multinational company named Tata Consultancy Services which was delivered successfully and it was appreciated by the company’s management as well as my academic faculty.
This also helped me to improve my organization skills, my capability to work with strict deadlines, as well as working as a member of a team. I was affiliated with the organization team of non-technical events like ‘Artmela’. I also headed the publicity team for the technical festival of my college - ‘Nucleus’. Being involved in these activities remarkably developed my interpersonal and managerial skills.
My recent experiences while working on projects at Tata Consultancy Services and well as being in charge of several extracurricular events at my university has sparked a desire in management. That’s why I aspire to blend the field of management with my background in IT.
And once I realized what I wanted to do in long term, I knew

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

My salient career goal is to become a successful computer engineer, as women are a minority in the engineering field. I chose engineering, because I love problem solving, math and building circuits on my breadboard. My goals for now are to graduate with a high GPA and to gain experience through my college journey. I tend to get better grades when I understand the material better, which is by tutoring others. Also, having work experience can be extremely helpful, as it is a whole new environment.
