They tied in the alphabets within the little lesson. Ms. Kristina did rhyming word with flash cards with her group. Ms. Jenna had every child in her group repeat the nursery rhyme and point out certain letters.…

Thanksgiving is considered by many as being the worse meal of the year. Why? Because of the extreme overload of high-starch carbs that trigger blood sugar spikes for so many people. Just think of it. Pumpkin pie with a scoop or two of ice cream, corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sugar-laden cranberry sauce and green bean casserole, that's why.…

This week I have learned lot from Visualizing Learning from Chapters 3, 13, and 14. All the vocabulary words and meaning through pictures all made sense after reading and the examples that were used. I had no difficulty with any of the terms that were used in each of these chapters. I have learned a lot especially in Chapter 14 with Cognitive Therapy and Goals of Psychotherapy. They were self-explanatory and had great examples next to them to help steer me in the right direction. I tend on using what I know out in the real world as well. This week opened my eyes to a lot. In Chapter 15, learning about empathy-altruism hypothesis and egoistic model of altruism, meaning if we had more people in the world that act this way, then there would be less selfish people out there. With different types of therapy out there people do not have excuses on why there is no help at all. Knowing the right people can get you the right help.…
Have you ever heard of the first thanksgiving? Well, there was one “how to” story for teachers to be able to teach their students effectively. Written by Chuck Larsen, the story was entitled, “Information for Teachers”. In the story, Larsen explained that the majority of Americans were taught in school – which was not entirely true. An interesting guy Larsen was. His ancestors witnessed the first official Thanksgiving and what emphasizes this is that his ancestors originated from both the pilgrims and the Indians. It's a challenge to know a wide spread of knowledge and having to choose the important information to share.…

This pumpkin activity allowed for us as future teachers to think outside the box, and use something outside of its’ intended purpose for something educational. Having to turn a pumpkin into a globe made most of us including myself go outside of our comfort zone, and leave what we believed to be normal teaching method. I believe that making us go outside of our comfort zone was beneficial because as a future…
The students previously talked a little bit about the First Thanksgiving in Social Studies and were excited to read more about. Going through the book walk some of the students were able to identify exactly what each photo was and the names of ships illustrated. I felt like the students were engaged and eager to learn more. During the Fact or Myth game, the students were excited to hear more. My Cooperating Teacher said my strengths were being organized and prepared to teach the lesson. She also said I related to the students well, was always respectful, and gave clear instructions. During my second lesson I did not experience any unexpected circumstances. I was concerned about reading the book out loud to the students because there were a…
It was Thanksgiving afternoon and I could see my family cooking stuffing, the kitchen. The dogs were begging for food, just waiting for someone to spill. There was a beautiful centerpiece on the table, red, brown, orange, and yellow fall leaves surrounding a lit orange candle . The air smelled delicious, like fresh cooked steamy turkey.…
