My Leadership Philosophy
Leadership is a priority if we want to see success in an organisation. This applies to school as well since its function is similar to an organisation, comprises of leaders and staff. With an increased in school autonomy and a greater focus on holistic education of the students and the ‘can’t run away’ emphasis on school results, all these factors have made it essential to reconsider the role of school leaders and their middle managers. There is always room for improvement to professionalise school leadership so as to meet the challenges of current and future times.
One of the ways to professionalise school leadership can be through the adoption of the Five Learning Organisation (LO) disciplines. The 5 disciplines are Personal Mastery, Mental

At this junction, I do not have a good answer to how I am going to do it but I can only share that for the common good of my school and students. I need to put aside my underlying beliefs and assumptions that may not always be right. I will ‘deploy’ empathy to help me challenge my mental models so that I can see things from another perspectives since empathy is a universal team value that promotes high commitment and cooperation in the workplace. It is also the ability to understand another person's perspective or circumstance whether you agree with this person or not. During difficult or challenging moments, empathy can also help me to understand my ‘enemy’ better. This group of ‘enemy’ refers to colleagues who do not buy in the idea or new initiative that I have implemented or would like to introduce to the school as they are worried of the implications of the change. Some equate change to more work and thus, are resistant to change. I hope to challenge the mental models of this group of my colleagues so that change can happen with new learning. ‘Enemy’ also refers to the group of parents who insist to have their way at the expense of the school or the other stakeholders. Whether we like it or not, we have to agree that some overly protective parents are doing more harm than good to their children. They are undoing what we are doing in school especially when values inculcation is concerned. For whatsoever reasons, for a start, because of my mental models, I will view them as being wrong and I am always right as I could not understand their resistance or the way they want things to be done. When empathy is put into practise in such situations, I will or might see things from another perspectives and understand them better. This group of ‘enemy’ will help me grow in my planning,

Leadership is not only in a school setting but other professions requiring one or two people to direct others in a beneficial path. Pursuing a degree in administration forced me to reflect on the characteristics I see best fit when leading staff in the correct direction. Leaders are not born overnight, but take time to grow and perfect. Leaders not only are driven to benefit themselves, but also have a force behind them for the benefit of the entire school.…

My philosophy on leadership is that leaders are to be self-aware, honest, hardworking, and always do what is right. Leadership requires for one to be a part of a whole, a team player while blazing the trail at the front of the pack. A leader must be dedicated, tenacious and resilient while being receptive, open and responsive. Leadership is understanding that no one is perfect and to be effective, it is important to develop your team as well as yourself.…

Leadership can be found close to anywhere you go including at school, at home, at work, or throughout your community. I feel that an effective leader has many different and unique qualities. These qualities include being a good listener, motivating, and being able to analyze and solve problems. Leaders should step forward and take action in any situation but also be able to make it seem fun, to make things interesting while getting the stuff we need done. To be a good leader means to not only give others motivation but to have self motivation also.…

Part of leadership is the ability to make a difference under difficult circumstances. But, what is a leader? A leader is a person or thing that holds a dominant or superior position within its field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control or influence over others. I portray the qualities that a leader has: persistance, determination, confidence, and passion. This past summer my gymnastics career went to the next level; I was offered a job at the gymnasium.…

In a community, being a leader is often difficult due to all the components and struggles that go into being one. A leader is an individual who can take charge in various situations, and do it effectively in a way which makes others follow them. Leaders are very important in all situations to provide direction and stability, and it takes much effort to be able to lead groups of people well. I believe I can take this on and be a leader, based off of my actions in groups, the services I have done, and the attitude/characteristics I have.…

Leadership has been present in my life in many different ways, through sports, academics and even through friendships. When I was younger I didn’t know what it meant to be a leader, I always though the “leader” was just the most popular or most liked person within a group, whether it be a sports team or group or friends. As I grew older, I realized that was not the case, leadership comes in many different forms and has many different aspects. I have been a cheerleader since I was about 5 years old, I have competed at different cheer gyms and on different teams but have never let go of the sport. When I was young I would always look up to the older girls, I never thought that one day I would actually be one of them.…

In my day to day life I try and pride myself on who I am and who I am becoming. Just a few days ago I was telling myself that I need to actually stop volunteering so much because it means I have little time to do anything else. There have been many cases in which I demonstrated a personal drive, commitment to my community, and my own leadership philosophy. Talking to my dad about a month ago I was having a conversation with him for school where I asked him what my best qualities were and one that he told me is my work ethic. This made me think about it because it was not something that I would originally think for myself.…

Leadership has always been important to me. From a young age, my parents, my teachers and my community promoted the idea of leadership as a crucial aspect to the betterment of not only myself as a person, but the people around me as well. By being a leader myself, as well as being influenced by the actions of others, I have truly learned the significant impact that a seemingly small action can have on a person, a community, and even the world. Though leadership and being a leader itself is difficult to define, I have come to realize that leadership exists within everyone, it is simply up to each person to use their gifts to positively impact others. Even though many people view a leader as someone who is firm, authoritative and bold, these…

When it comes to being a strong leader and taking a stand to step up and be a role model, there are many important tasks to fill and provide for others. To me, being a great leader and taking responsibility means to care about your teammates, family, friends, and anyone you are helping. As well as setting good attitudes and always bringing positive energy to the event, place, and situation. Being a leader isn’t always easy however, all you can do is try your best. A leader is someone who anyone can go to for help for advice, someone who maybe doesn’t know everything but, does know right from wrong.…

Leadership can be defined as “the ability to influence others and the wiliness to include others so that they respond voluntarily”. The leadership principles of my own are the following: • Knowledge • Communication • Self-awareness and Improvement • Connection with and the understanding of others Having the skills and knowledge for my own tasks in addition to knowledge about what is expected of those I am intended to lead will have a dramatic effect. I am not comfortable leading without any knowledge of what it is I am trying to lead others into. This lack of knowledge will show and since a big part of leadership is to influence others this lack of knowledge and uncertainty can be interpreted negatively.…
