Reflective Essay
In ninth grade English I have overall learned a lot during the year. I have gained a better understanding on how I have learned what I have, what type of learner I am, and how I can continue to use that throughout my life. During the year, I realized that I learn the best when we worked in groups. A lesson that happens to stick out to me is the time we had the opportunity to go into the library and learn about doing research online. I think what helped me learn this was the fact everyone was participating, and she showed us as a group, step-by-step the things we needed to do. Being able to experience all types of different learning techniques throughout the year has helped me realize that I am a kinesthetic learner. I work better when I physically do the work myself. Not only that, but I also learn well in group. Being able to see other people’s opinions and comparing what I’ve learned to what they’ve learned has truly benefitted me. I have found that when I work with other people I can use their strengths to strengthen my weaknesses, and I can do the same for them. There are countless ways I can apply this to my life. I know now that it may be better for me if I study with another pier, rather than by myself. Also, this can help me as I begin to look into future careers; choosing a career that is a little bit more social may be a better choice for me. Not only this, but all of the content I have learned so far will help me through life. I know that I will be writing papers for the rest of my education, and this year has helped me improve my writing skills. All in all ninth grade English has been a real big eye-opener for me. I was able to identify in what ways I am able to learn best, what kind of learner I am, and how I will be able to use this in my every-day life.

By using this I have discovered what my goals and dreams are. I wanted to pass this class and go on to college but that's not going to happen if I fail english. I realized that all that busy work she was giving us wasn't actually busy work. She showing us how hard it can be in college and most of the material now that I come to think of it helped me with everything I did in that class whether it was vocab or learning to write a better thesis statement. My goal for that class was to pass with an 80 or high by the end of each marking period and to not slack on all my work and to do it well and on time. Now I actually do my work ahead of time so that I don't forget and I have time to go back and look over it and sometimes I have a little free time to myself. My current grade in my CCC English 102 is an 89 and so far i've been doing things days before they are actually do so I make sure it's…

Over the course of this semester, I have changed greatly as a reader. I look at books now in a different way. I used to love reading when I was younger and this semester has helped me rediscover why. When I finally got the chance to read to students for the first time I was immediately changed. I now get excited about reading books to the kids and take advantage of every opportunity I have to do so. I have, without a doubt, read more books this semester than I have since my first semester as an Early Childhood Education major.…

In seventh grade, I began analyzing and breaking down articles, and this was the first time we did something that was not centered on grammar and spelling. By this time I felt that my English classes in school were not good enough to fulfil the level of English I wanted, so on the weekends I started to attend classes at a private English institute. In my English Institute class in Paraguay, I was expected to read, write, and practice answering exams in English and, additionally, it was exceptionally supportive for me since I could learn the proper sounds for every word. On a side note, there was a Chess Institute close to the English institute, so I additionally began taking chess…

I'm a real quiet person. It takes a lot to get me out of my comfort zone. Writing really helped me to be able to communicate without having to open my mouth. My words could influence people and make them see things in a different light. All throughout elementary school, instead of playing act recess, I would sit and write stories or read books from the library. In middle school, I could read three books a week. I think therefore I could excel and grow in English. My junior and senior year, I had the pleasure of taking the International Baccalaureate English program and it opened my eyes to what I should expect from the college level. Projects overlap and the grading scale is so different from what I was used to. I accepted the challenge and grew to love the language.…
