Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia to quickly and then Germany declared wars on nations because it was “defending itself” even though it just wanted to gain more territories and use its large military. These rash acts caused the whole world to plummet into the largest war man had ever seen.…

World War One started for two main reasons: the alliances of Europe and many countries, and what really set off the war, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand was the crowned prince of Austria-Hungary who was sent to Serbia to keep peace between the countries. This was a set of laws made by Austria-Hungary that said Serbians no longer had freedom of speech of Austria-Hungary, Serbia must remove their military from the Austria-Hungary border, all Black Hand members must be turned in, and lastly, all anti-Austria-Hungary members…

The Great War lasted from June, 1914 - November, 1918. Many countries that participated in the Great War were imperialists, and there were many reasons why the war started in the first place. One reason was because there were multiple pieces of evidence showing the small nation, Serbia, gave the assassinator the weapons to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was the archduke of Austria-Hungary and the heir to the throne. His assassination triggered the outbreak of World War I. This first political cartoon portrays the alliance system; the alliance system was only one part to the M.A.I.N. causes of World War I, where ‘M’ stood for militarism (a rise in military expenditure, an increase in military and naval forces, and a preference for force as a solution to problems), ‘A’ for alliance system (an agreement between two or more parties, made in order to advance common goals and to secure common interests), ‘I’ for imperialism (empire building - exert political, economic, and sometimes…

During the beginning of the 19th Century Europe was crossing a period characterized by great technological advancements and scientific optimism, but it was also subject to hostile relations between many of its main powers. These hostilities transformed into war on the 28th of June 1914,when a 19 year old terrorist, Gavrilo Princip, assassinated the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, creating the cause of war that one month later brought Austria-Hungary to attack Serbia and officially start World War 1. At the end of the war, during the treaty of Versailles, the "war guilt clause" was written and it stated that Germany was to blame as the cause of World War 1, but as time passed the majority of historians disagreed on this statement. World war two was the result of many long and short term factors such as nationalism, militarism, alliance systems and colonialism. These factors created the ideal environment for the war to outbreak as they favored the creation of hostilities between groups of countries and, even though Germany did have an important role as it was one of the most influent powers of the time, so did other allied and non-allied countries and blaming entirely Germany would result unjust.…
