Animal Testing Cruelty

Animal testing is one of the few animal cruelty's in the US, testing is in the laboratories for human products such as makeup hair products and many more. “Animal testing originated by the early Greeks physician-scientists, such as Aristotle, 384 – 322 BC. An Arab physician in twelfth-century Moorish Spain introduced animal testing as an experimental method for testing surgical procedures before applying them to human patients.” (History Of Animal Testing) Every year in America more than 105,000 different types of animals are abused and tortured in the labs. Animals born in the lab are ripped away from their families and are put in cages where there is little to no food or water and the cages are unsanitary. Animals from the wild manly mothers are often shot down and their babies will be held hostage to be
tested on. The U.S. law allows the laboratory to burn, shock, poison, starve, drown, get the animal addicted to harmful drugs, and brain damage the animal's, painkillers are not required and are often are not used. Animals are infected with abnormal diseases mice grow tumors bigger than their own bodies, rats are made to have seizures, primates which are animals in the gorilla family; their skulls are cut into and an electrodes are implanted in them. An electrode is an electrical conductor used to make contact with a nonmetallic part of a circuit. Animals are forced to eat chemicals, they will have multiple surgeries, wires are implanted into their brains, and their spins are crushed and many more harmful tortures. Ninety percent of the animals will begin to have abnormal behaviors.
They will go insane, rocking back and forth in the cages and pacing around. Some will start ripping their hair out and eating their own flesh. Scientist have stated that animal testing is a waste of animals lives and a waste of money. Animals and humans are not the same, the results will turn out differently. In the laboratories animals are injected with diseases that humans would never come in contact with. The National Institutes of Health has stated that 95 percent of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials because they don’t work or are dangerous .The drugs prescribed to humans half of them turn out to be relabeled because of side effects that were not identified in tests on animals. In the united states over 16 billion dollars are spent each year for animal testing. “experiments on animals are cruel, expensive, and generally inapplicable to humans—the world’s most forward-thinking scientists have moved on to develop and use methods for studying diseases and testing products that replace animals and are actually relevant to human
health. These modern methods include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human volunteers. These and other non-animal methods are not hindered by species differences that make applying animal test results to humans difficult or impossible, and they usually take less time and money to complete.” (Alternatives to Animal Testing). Animals are tested for makeup products like; Avon, Benefit, Clinique, Maybelline and many popular brands. Cruelty-free makeup brands include; Urban Decay, NARS, Too Faced, and Anastasia Beverly Hills etc. Animals are also tested for viruses, disease, and cancer, but animals are not affected the same way humans are due to our different immune systems. “As many doctors and scientists have realized, relying on animal experiments to find cures for human diseases is an impediment to progress. Researchers have spent years trying to develop an animal “model” for AIDS, yet no animal infected with the AIDS virus has ever developed the disease as humans do.” (Are animal experiments valuable to AIDS research?). Animals should not be abused and tortured for human products and drugs.
