School Starts Too Early
School start times have been an ongoing topic of discussion that causes many arguments. Many people say that school should start later so that students can get more sleep and be able to stay awake during school. On the other side, people argue that schools should keep the early start times so that events can take place after school and so the students learn to get up early for when they get a job later in life. The early school start times are a big problem that may cause students to fail or even negatively impact a student’s health. School starting early may cause sleep deprivation. Studies show that later start times decrease tardiness, absences, and dropout rates. Studies have also shown that school starting later would make kids less sluggish and more enthusiastic about learning. Later start times would also let kids have more time in the morning to eat a healthy breakfast that would help them get through the day and to stay healthier. Teenagers need a lot more sleep than adults do because of all the changes teens go through and all the growth that happens during school years. Most experts say that teens need at least eight and a half to nine and a half hours of sleep each night. Risks of not getting the right amount of sleep could be mental issues, learning difficulty and physical problems that could impact sport and academic performances. Studies also show that with more sleep along with later start times teens show a boost in energy which could lead to students being more active during school hours and participating in events or after school activities. I think this may give students who forgot to study or do their homework a chance to work on these things in the
